In a shocking revelation, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration of intentionally pushing the state into an avoidable financial crisis. The Osun APC further alleges that the recent announcement of a suspicious N100 billion development program spanning over 12 months is a ploy to drain the state’s resources.
The state government’s plan, unveiled on Friday, includes the construction of five flyovers across the state, rehabilitation of 1.5 kilometers of roads in each local government area, and improvements to selected health facilities and schools. Governor Adeleke assured the public that these projects would be completed within one year, without any loans or involvement of financial institutions.

However, Tajudeen Lawal, the chairman of the Osun APC, criticized the program as a severe misplacement of priorities by someone entrusted with the responsibility of managing the state’s resources. He questioned the governor’s claim of not borrowing any funds, emphasizing that the citizens have the right to know the funding source and the repayment plan.
Lawal expressed his disbelief at the sudden emergence of these projects, considering the Adeleke administration’s failure to fulfill its promise of constructing 332 boreholes in each ward of the state. He also highlighted the government’s failure to distribute the N9 billion Federal Government fuel subsidy removal palliative, which was intended to alleviate the suffering of the people.
The chairman further questioned the economic significance of constructing a flyover at Owode Ede, suggesting that it might be a personal agenda rather than a necessity. He argued that with other states providing multiple tranches of support to their citizens, it is questionable whether building five flyovers at this time is a prudent decision. Lawal also pointed out the absence of a minimum wage announcement for the state’s workers, initiated by the federal government, questioning the government’s financial capacity to undertake such ambitious projects.
Lawal criticized the lack of consideration for the state’s current financial status and the blatant disregard for alternative proposals. He questioned the government’s willingness to embrace an individual’s proposal without evaluating the potential consequences.

The Osun APC chairman also accused supporters of the Adeleke administration of lacking patriotism. He argued that some of the projects outlined in the development plan are repetitive, suggesting a lack of thorough planning and a waste of resources.
As the controversy surrounding the development plan deepens, Osun State finds itself at a crossroads. The allegations made by the Osun APC raise concerns about the transparency and accountability of Governor Adeleke’s administration. The citizens of Osun State deserve answers regarding the funding source and the long-term impact of these projects on the state’s financial stability.
