In a recent turn of events, the much-anticipated return of “That ’90s Show” for its second season in the summer of 2024 has been met with unexpected news from two of its iconic stars. Mila Kunis, renowned for her roles in “Friends With Benefits” and “Family Guy,” alongside her husband Ashton Kutcher, have decided to bid adieu to the nostalgic series, citing a lackluster excuse for their departure.

During the Paleyfest’s 25th-anniversary celebration for “Family Guy,” Kunis expressed her sentiments on the matter to ET, stating, “No. I mean, we did our thing, and they introduced our son in the show, and that was, you know, [enough].” This revelation comes as a disappointment to fans eagerly awaiting the return of the dynamic duo to the small screen.

Adding to the list of departures is Wilmer Valderrama, who portrayed the beloved character Fez in the original “That ’70s Show.” In a recent interview with Collider, Valderrama hinted at his departure from the series, stating, “I don’t know… I mean I feel like I did it. And I think it was beautiful, it was a lot of fun, you know. But I think it’s really the kids’ show.” With these statements, it seems that the original cast members are ready to move on from their nostalgic roots.

Despite the absence of Kunis, Kutcher, and Valderrama, fans can still look forward to the return of another familiar face from “That ’70s Show.” Seth Green, known for his role as Eric Forman’s nemesis Mitch Miller, is set to make a comeback in the upcoming season. In an interview with his “Family Guy” co-star, Green expressed his excitement about reprising his role, stating, “I’ve already done an episode of it, and I’m going back to do another one.” His return is sure to bring a touch of nostalgia to fans of the original series.

As the second season of “That ’90s Show” gears up for its release, the absence of key cast members raises questions about the direction the series will take. Will the new season be able to capture the essence of the ’90s without the presence of Kunis, Kutcher, and Valderrama? Only time will tell as fans eagerly await the premiere.

In the ever-evolving landscape of television, changes in cast dynamics are not uncommon. While some stars choose to move on to new ventures, others find comfort in revisiting familiar roles. The decision of Kunis, Kutcher, and Valderrama to step away from “That ’90s Show” marks the end of an era for fans who have grown attached to these beloved characters.
