Northern CAN Extends Eid-el-Fitr Congratulations While Condemning Violence

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) representing the 19 Northern States and the Federal Capital Territory, has offered heartfelt congratulations to Muslims across the nation as they mark the end of Ramadan and celebrate Eid-el-Fitr. In a message released from Kaduna, Rev. John Hayab, the Chairman of Northern CAN, along with Secretary-General Bishop Mohammed Naga, acknowledged the spiritual significance of this holy month.

Eid-el-Fitr, which translates to the “Festival of Breaking the Fast,” is a moment for Muslims to express gratitude and joy after a month of fasting, prayer, and reflection. The statement from Northern CAN emphasized the intense spiritual journey undertaken during Ramadan, describing it as a time of deep devotion that ultimately enriches one’s faith. “The spiritual activities are significant and rewarding to every faithful, especially those who embrace the teachings as instructed in the Holy Books,” the release highlighted.

In a contrasting yet crucial part of their message, Northern CAN expressed profound sorrow over the tragic killing of 16 travelers in Uromi, Edo State. The organization described this incident as a significant loss not only for the victims and their families but also for the entire nation. “The pain and anguish their families and loved ones must endure are unbearable. We can only imagine the depth of their sufferings. May God grant them comfort, strength, and solace during this darkest of times,” the leaders stated emotionally.
