It is indisputable that Stephanie Okereke-Linus, 34, is one of Nollywood’s finest and hard-working actresses.

Therefore, it is not surprising that she has received several awards and nominations for her works, including the 2003 Reel Award for Best Actress; the 2006 Afro Hollywood Award for Best Actress; and three nominations for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards in 2005, 2009 and 2010.

Her movie, “Dry,” won the award for Best Movie Overall at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards in 2016.

For clinching the award, Okereke-Linus got herself a brand new GAC GS5 SUV courtesy of Guangzhou Automobile Group Co. Limited, a Chinese carmaker.

Obviously, Okereke-Linus could not hide her joy of receiving the car as she took to Instagram few days after the awards, “I finally picked up the car from the Chief Executive Officer of CIG Motors, Ms. Diana Chen…This car symbolises a lot.”

About the GAS GS5

The GAC GS5 is undoubtedly one of the most affordable SUVs one can get in the market, costing about $17,460 (N5.5m). Of course, one wouldn’t expect it to cost more as it is not a high-end vehicle.

Be that as it may, the car is sensible and offers buyers good value for money. Measuring 4.73 meters in length, 1.85 meters in width, and 1.68 meters in height, the GS5 is one that compels some sort of attention on the road.

It is compact and although it is a Chinese brand, it possesses the attributes of Japanese and European crossover vehicles with its design, comfort, safety and performance.

Powered by a 2.0 litre engine with a five-speed automatic transmission, the GS5 is quiet and delivers an amazing performance with low fuel consumption. The four-cylinder, in line with the double overhead camshaft normal aspirated engine, has a maximum power of 108/6300 kw/rpm with a torque of 187/4500 Nm/rpm, while reaching a top speed of 180 km/h.

With alloy wheels as standard feature, the GS5 suspension system is designed for all roads. While the front is a double fork arm independent suspension, the rear is a multi-link beam independent suspension.

The braking system of the GS5 is ventilated disc brake at the front and parking drum brake at the rear, which makes braking distance very short and precise.

Exterior features include a daytime running lamp, an Adaptive Front Lighting System, headlight automatic cleaning system, headlight light time-delay function, alarm for headlight timing on, a Light-Emitting Diode taillight, LED high-mounted braking light and front and rear fog lamps.

The GS5’s interior is packed with a multi-function steering wheel, leather seats, six-way regulation for driver seat, 4/6 folded rear seats, front central armrest with storage.

Features like a seven-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, AUX, SD card, GPRS card, iPod, CD player, MP3/WMA, radio, dual zone control air conditioner for the front seat, power windows and a USB interface are also included in the car.

In terms of safety, the GS5 is loaded with the Traction Control System, the Hydraulic Brake Assist system, the Hill Hold Control System and the Hill Descent Control System.

Other safety features include an electronic parking brake system, tyre pressure monitor system, multiple airbags and crash sensor engine immobiliser with alarm.

Because the GS5 is built for both hard work and fun, it is also equipped with a remote key which can control the seats’ folding ability; a Passive Entry/Passive Start keyless entry; a one-touch ignition function; intelligence combination instrument with trip computer; and cruise control with control button on the steering wheel.
