In a bold prediction, Manchester United icon Rio Ferdinand has cast doubt on Erik ten Hag’s future at the club, suggesting that even a potential FA Cup triumph may not be enough to save the manager from the chopping block.

Despite a closing 2-0 victory over Brighton in their final Premier League fixture, Ten Hag’s tenure has been marred by a tumultuous season, leaving his position hanging by a thread.

The Dutch manager’s squad suffered a staggering 19 defeats across various competitions, culminating in an underwhelming eighth-place finish and the looming prospect of missing out on European football for the first time since 2015, unless they can overcome rivals Manchester City in the upcoming FA Cup final.

Ferdinand, renowned for his insightful commentary, expressed skepticism regarding Ten Hag’s longevity at the helm, hinting that the club’s co-owners, Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS, are likely to reassess and potentially sever ties with the manager post the FA Cup showdown.

“Regardless of the outcome, I highly doubt Ten Hag will lead the team in the upcoming season,” Ferdinand asserted during a recent episode on his popular FIVE YouTube channel.

“I anticipate the club will seek alternatives. Securing the FA Cup, in my opinion, won’t sway the decision-makers at INEOS. This is purely my estimation; I haven’t engaged with anyone in the hierarchy.”

The speculation surrounding Ten Hag’s future has ignited fervent debate among fans and pundits alike, as the football world eagerly awaits the dramatic conclusion of the FA Cup saga and the subsequent ramifications for Manchester United.

As the tension mounts and the stakes soar, the fate of Ten Hag hangs in the balance, with the narrative poised to unravel in the aftermath of the highly anticipated clash against Manchester City.

Will the FA Cup serve as a lifeline for Ten Hag, defying the odds and securing his tenure at Old Trafford? Or is this the beginning of the end for the Dutch tactician, as Ferdinand’s prophecy looms large over the club’s future direction?

Only time will tell as the footballing community braces for a seismic shift in the managerial landscape at one of the world’s most illustrious clubs.
