Man City striker Erling Haaland has revealed that he has been watching his team’s magnificent Champions League 4-0 victory over Real Madrid repeatedly. This came during an interview with Hayters TV after the Norwegian star was crowned the FWA Player of the Year.

Recall that on May 17, Man City battered Real Madrid 4-0, booking a place in the UEFA Champions League final against Inter Milan. Fans hoped for a closely contested match as the first leg ended 1-1. However, Man City dominated the second leg with a brace from Bernardo Silva and goals from Manuel Akanji and Julian Alvarez.

Haaland expressed his admiration for Man City’s control over the game, especially in the first half. He stated that “the first half, when I saw it again, is one of the few games I have been watching again, and I think it is the best first half I have ever seen, ever in my life of a football team.”

The victory was another feather in Man City’s cap this season as they aim to catch up on one trophy they have not yet won – the UEFA Champions League. Despite reaching the final in 2021, they lost to Chelsea.

Haaland’s comments exemplify the confidence that the team currently enjoys and augurs well for their preparations ahead of the final against Inter Milan. This will be the first-time Man City faces an Italian side in the final of the Champions League.

With star-studded players like Kevin de Bruyne, Riyad Mahrez, and Ilkay Gundogan expected to be playing at the peak of their abilities, Pep Guardiola’s side will look to overcome their opponents and win their first Champions League trophy. The final will be played on May 28 at Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul.

In the meantime, Man City’s focus is on their remaining Premier League games, where they are trying to hold on to their top position. With critical matches against Chelsea and Tottenham in the pipeline, Guardiola’s men will need to show the same level of determination that enabled them to beat Real Madrid in the Champions League semifinal.

The Citizens have already secured the Premier League title and the Carabao Cup this season and are on course to win a treble. Their next match is against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park, where they will be looking to sign off in style before turning their attention to the Champions League final.
