Mackenzie Phillips Opens Up About Her Troubled Past and Road to Recovery

In a candid interview on “Oprah: Where Are They Now?”, Mackenzie Phillips, the renowned actress, shocked viewers by revealing that she had first experimented with cocaine at the tender age of 11. The actress, known for her roles in “One Day at a Time” and “American Graffiti,” opened up about her tumultuous upbringing and the impact it had on her life.

She stated, “There’s a genetic component to it, but there’s also the fact that I was introduced to these destructive behaviors at such a young age.”

According to a 1978 report by People magazine, Phillips’ struggles with substance abuse began to affect her career when she was found in a semi-conscious state on the streets during her late teenage years. This incident led to her arrest for disorderly conduct and subsequent placement on six months’ probation.
