The Lagos State Police Command has responded to an invitation extended to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) by one Eze Igbo of Ajao Estate, Fredrick Nwajagu, to come and secure the properties of the Igbo people in the state.
In a 49-second video, Nwajagu stated that the call became necessary following the attacks on Igbo people in the state. Markets, predominantly populated by Igbos, were targeted by unknown arsonists during and after the general elections.
However, the spokesman of the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, has made it clear that the command will not sit back and allow such actions to take place within the state. In a tweet, Hundeyin wrote, “To start with, the ever-ready @LagosPoliceNG will never fold its arms and allow such within the state.”
Following the video invitation, Nwajagu was arrested by the Nigeria Police and the Department of State Services (DSS) at a hotel in Ejigbo. This swift action by the security forces is a clear indication that the government is not willing to tolerate any individual or group who may seek to cause unrest or disrupt the peace in the state.
