Aniston has been outspoken about her feminism, and her refusal to be shamed or humiliated by the media. In a December 2018 ELLE interview, Aniston revealed that, despite going through two divorces, “[her] marriages, they’ve been very successful, in [her] personal opinion.” She also explained that the decision to end those relationship was an important and healthy choice for her saying, “We chose to be happy, and sometimes happiness didn’t exist within that arrangement anymore. Sure, there were bumps, and not every moment felt fantastic, obviously, but at the end of it, this is our one life and I would not stay in a situation out of fear.”

Regarding speculation that something major was missing from her life, or that she neglected to start a family in order to be “so career-driven and focused on [herself],” Aniston told Allure in December 2014, “I don’t like [the pressure] that people put on me, on women — that you’ve failed yourself as a female because you haven’t procreated. I don’t think it’s fair. You may not have a child come out of your vagina, but that doesn’t mean you aren’t mothering — dogs, friends, friends’ children.” The Cake actress is helping to redefine a new normal for women, and that appears to include being friends with her ex-husband.
