Apples up! Desperate Housewives premiered in 2004 — and hooked fans into the drama surrounding the women of Wisteria Lane. The Marc Cherry-created mystery comedy-drama made its debut on ABC October 3, 2004, with main cast members Teri Hatcher (Susan Mayer), Felicity Huffman (Lynette Scavo), Marcia Cross (Bree Van de Kamp) and Eva Longoria (Gabrielle Solis) playing a group of women living on the same fictional street. The boundary-pushing show, which was narrated by Brenda Strong (as the late Mary Alice Young), became a massive success with viewers and TV critics alike. Hatcher has laid low since Desperate Housewives went off the air. She had a voice role in the 2013 Disney movie Planes and its 2014 sequel, Planes: Fire & Rescue, in addition to recurring parts on The Odd Couple and Supergirl. She has also developed a love for cooking and won a holiday episode of Chopped in 2013. She launched the YouTube channel “Hatching Change” in January 2018 in order to help her viewers make “positive changes in your life, your health and your attitude.” She starred in the 2021 Hallmark TV movie A Kiss Before Christmas, which marked her first role in two years, reuniting with her former costar Denton.

Hatcher shares daughter Emerson with her ex-husband Jon Tenney.

After stepping out of Lynette’s shoes, Huffman starred in several independent films before joining the cast of American Crime. More recently, she portrayed real-life prosecutor Linda Fairstein in When They See Us.

Huffman made headlines in March 2019 when she was arrested for her involvement in the nationwide college admissions scandal. She pleaded guilty to paying $15,000 to boost her eldest daughter Sophia’s SAT score and was subsequently sentenced to 14 days in federal prison. The New York native completed her prison stay in October 2019 and subsequently began her 250 hours of community service. She and husband William H. Macy also share daughter Georgia.

In November 2020, ABC announced that Huffman would return to acting as the lead in the pilot for the Sacramento River Cats project.

After a brief career hiatus, Cross guest-starred in an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in 2015 and later joined the cast of Quantico. She guest starred on season 3 of You in 2021.

The actress, who shares twin daughters Eden and Savannah with husband Tom Mahoney, announced in June 2019 that she had anal cancer. She is now in remission.

Longoria has appeared in several high-profile ads and campaigns since Desperate Housewives ended. She served as a judge on Food Network Star in 2010 and executive-produced Devious Maids from 2013 to 2016. Longoria also had three-episode cameos on Empire and Grand Hotel, the latter of which she executive-produced. And in 2018, she starred in the movies Dog Days and Overboard.

In July 2020, she joined Natalie Portman and more female celebrities to bring a women’s soccer team to Los Angeles. That same year, she appeared in the Amazon Prime Video film, Sylvie’s Love, and, in 2021, lent her voice to the animated feature The Boss Baby: Family Business.

She married José Bastón in 2016, and welcomed their son, Santiago, two years later.

Sheridan had a tumultuous exit from Desperate Housewives. She filed a $20 million lawsuit against Cherry and ABC in 2010 that alleged the creator had assaulted her on set and wrongfully terminated her contract; the case ended in a mistrial two years later. She went on to star in The CW’s Dynasty revival from 2018 to 2019. Sheridan finalized her divorce from Aaron Phypers in August 2018 after nearly three years of marriage.

Delany has stayed busy since the ABC series’ finale. Her recent onscreen credits include Body of Proof, Hand of God, The Comedians, The Code and The American Guest mini-series. She also served as the host of the 2011 Television Academy Honors and a guest host on Turner Classic Movies in 2016.

In recent years, Williams has appeared in TV shows including The Librarians, Daytime Divas, Me, Myself and I, T.O.T.S., Girls5Eva and Showtime’s Twenties. She announced in April 2018 that she was working on her ninth album. Williams has four children: Melania, Jillian and Devin with her first husband, Ramon Hervey II, and Sasha with her second husband, Rick Fox. She married a third time, to Jim Skrip, in 2015.

After Culp’s character was killed off, he appeared in TV shows including The West Wing, 24, NCIS, Body of Proof, Grey’s Anatomy, Revolution and Dirty John. He has two children, Katie and Joe, with wife Barbara Ayers.

Chavira guest-starred on two episodes of Burn Notice in 2013, the same year he starred in the short-lived NBC sitcom Welcome to the Family. He has also had roles in Castle, Scandal, Jane the Virgin, Santa Clarita Diet, Selena: The Series and Chicago P.D.

Chavira and his wife, Marcea Dietzel, share son Tomas and daughter Belen.

After playing Susan’s love interest on the ABC drama, Denton appeared in a series of made-for-TV movies, including For Love & Honor and My New Best Friend. The Tennessee native had a recurring role on Devious Maids and starred on the Good Witch series from 2015 to 2021. He reunited with Hatcher in the Hallmark holiday movie A Kiss Before Christmas in 2021.

He shares son Sheppard and daughter Malin with wife Erin O’Brien and has played guitar for Band from TV since 2006.

During her final year on Desperate Housewives, Strong joined the cast of Dallas. She later appeared in Blood Relatives, Supergirl and 13 Reasons Why. The actress, who shares son Zakery with ex-husband Tom Henri, married John Farmanesh-Bocca in 2015.

Savant has had one-episode stints on TV shows including Criminal Minds, Scorpion, Dirty John, Tell Me Your Secrets and 9-1-1 since Desperate Housewives ended, but has otherwise stayed out of the spotlight. He has four children: Arianna and Madeline with ex-wife Dawn Savant, and Jack and Lucy with wife Laura Leighton.

After quitting the show in 2010 to focus on his son, Callum, with wife Desiree Gruber, MacLachlan appeared on How I Met Your Mother, Portlandia, The Good Wife and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. More recently, he had a voice role in the Disney/Pixar movie Inside Out, reprised his role as Dale Cooper on Twin Peaks and starred on Joe vs. Carole.
