Enyimba’s head coach, Finidi George, expressed his disappointment over his team’s failure to convert their chances in their recent defeat to Wydad Athletic Club of Morocco. The Nigerian champions suffered a 1-0 loss to Adil Ramzi’s side in the first leg of the African Football League (AFL) quarter-final tie on Sunday.

The match was decided by Yayha Jabrane’s first-half penalty, which proved to be the only goal of the game. Despite dominating possession and creating several opportunities, Enyimba’s Chijioke Mbaoma, Ekenne Awazie, and Daniel Daga were unable to find the back of the net.

In an interview with Brila FM, Finidi George acknowledged the importance of goal-scoring in football and how it ultimately determined the outcome of the match. He remained optimistic about his team’s chances in the second leg, emphasizing the need to capitalize on their opportunities.

“Football is about goal-scoring, if we had scored, the overall result would have been different,” Finidi said. “In a couple of days, we will have the return leg. I’m happy that in as much as we want to win the game, I’m happy that we lost by just 1-0, which gives us another opportunity to go over there and see if we can.”

The Enyimba coach highlighted the importance of taking advantage of the chances they would receive in the upcoming match. He believed that converting one or two of those opportunities could completely change the dynamics of the game.
