In a recent statement, Atletico Madrid President Enrique Cerezo addressed the growing speculation surrounding Joao Felix’s future at the club. The 23-year-old Portuguese international, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Chelsea, has reportedly expressed his unhappiness at Atletico amid fresh interest from Premier League giants Manchester United.

Felix returned to Spain only to be met with the news that his shirt number had been given to Antoine Griezmann, fueling speculation about his uncertain future. The young talent’s frustration was evident as he was asked to train away from the first-team squad during Atletico’s first session back on Monday.

Following the training session, Felix engaged in a tense conversation with Atletico’s sporting director, Andrea Berta, indicating his discontent with his current situation. Reports from Spain have indicated that Manchester United, along with Newcastle United and Aston Villa, have expressed interest in securing a loan move for the talented forward this summer.

However, President Cerezo sought to dispel any concerns about Felix’s immediate departure, stating, “We are delighted to have a player of Joao Felix’s caliber at our club. Fortunately for us, he is an integral part of Atletico Madrid. He is a player who is universally loved by everyone associated with the club. As things stand, and until proven otherwise, he remains an Atletico player for many seasons to come.”

Felix’s arrival at Atletico Madrid in 2019 was met with huge expectations after the La Liga side paid a staggering €126 million to secure his services from Benfica. Although the Portuguese forward has shown glimpses of his immense talent, he has struggled to consistently live up to the lofty expectations.

Rumors of Felix’s departure come as no surprise given his recent loan spell at Chelsea, where he showcased his versatility and impact in the Premier League. Manchester United’s reported interest in the 23-year-old has undoubtedly piqued fans’ curiosity, as the club looks to bolster its attacking options.

It is worth noting that Manchester United previously pursued Felix’s signature before he made the move to Spain. With the club currently undergoing a transition under new manager and former player Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the acquisition of a talented young forward like Felix could significantly enhance the team’s attacking prowess.

Newcastle United and Aston Villa have also emerged as potential suitors for Felix’s signature, highlighting the wide-ranging interest in his services. A loan move could provide the Portuguese international with the opportunity to gain valuable experience and potentially reignite his career.

As Joao Felix’s future continues to dominate headlines, many Atletico Madrid fans will be hoping that the talented youngster stays and fulfills his potential at the Wanda Metropolitano. However, it remains to be seen whether the allure of playing in the Premier League will prove too tempting for the young star.

In summary, Atletico Madrid President Enrique Cerezo has reassured fans that Joao Felix remains an integral part of the club’s plans, despite reports of interest from Premier League clubs. As the saga unfolds, the footballing world will wait with bated breath to see where the future takes this young and immensely talented forward.
