The Nigerian music industry is known for its talented artists and the stories of their struggles and triumphs. One such story is that of Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, who recently revealed the long and arduous journey he had to embark on before being signed by ace rapper and CEO of YBNL Nation, Olamide.

In a recent interview with Hip TV, Asake disclosed that he had been pleading with Olamide for about two years before the rapper finally agreed to sign him to the record label. The ‘Mr Money’ crooner recounted how Olamide invited him to his house one day and asked if he would like to join YBNL Nation. Overwhelmed with excitement, Asake accepted the offer without hesitation, despite Olamide’s advice to seek legal counsel and thoroughly review the contract.

Asake’s journey to being signed by YBNL Nation was a testament to his unwavering determination and passion for music. He expressed his deep respect and admiration for Olamide, emphasizing how much he had longed for the opportunity to work with the renowned rapper and be a part of the YBNL family.

“I’ve been begging Baddo [Olamide] since 2020 to sign me,” Asake revealed in the interview. “You don’t understand, for somebody you look up to, somebody you respect, somebody you’ve been longing to see, to ask you that question. I told him that I’m ready. He said, ‘Go and think about it. Go and look for a lawyer.’ I said, ‘Baba, sign me now now now. I don’t want any lawyer. Because I love the [YBNL] family so much even from afar.”

Asake’s persistence and unwavering dedication paid off when he finally signed to YBNL Nation in February 2022. The same month marked the release of his debut extended play, ‘Ololade,’ which featured his breakout hit ‘Omo Ope’ featuring Olamide, as well as the single ‘Sungba.’

The journey from pleading for a chance to joining the ranks of YBNL Nation was a dream come true for Asake, and it marked the beginning of a new chapter in his music career. The young artist’s story is a testament to the power of perseverance and the fulfillment of a lifelong dream.
