'I've conquered Nigerian market' - Tacha on why she relocated abroad

In a surprising move that has captured the attention of fans, former Big Brother Naija star Natacha Anita Akide, widely known as Tacha, has shared her reasons for relocating to the United Kingdom. The social media influencer and entrepreneur, famous for her vibrant personality and numerous brand endorsements, believes she has achieved significant success in the Nigerian market, prompting her to seek new opportunities abroad.

Tacha’s recent conversation with British media personality Madame Joyce provided insights into her decision. The reality TV star emphasized that her move to the UK is not a departure from her roots or her professional connections in Nigeria. Instead, she sees it as a strategic step forward. “I relocated to the UK because I have conquered the whole of the Nigerian market,” Tacha explained. “Relocating to the UK doesn’t mean I’m not going to do Nigerian deals. If the offer is good, why not?”

Reflecting on the state of the influencing industry in Nigeria, Tacha described it as a world that appears glamorous on the surface but presents challenges behind the scenes. “The influencing scene in Nigeria looks so beautiful, but behind the scenes, it’s not as beautiful as it seems because the money is poor,” she noted.

Tacha’s candor about her experiences in the influencer landscape highlights the disconnect between perceived success and actual financial rewards. She revealed that offers for influencer campaigns have stagnated since she first stepped into the spotlight after Big Brother Naija in 2019. “Someone would pay you N6 million, that’s around $3,000, for you to influence for six months and post two videos a month,” Tacha stated.

While this might have seemed appealing back in 2019, Tacha explained that the economic realities have changed drastically. “The fee was the same when I left the Big Brother Naija show in 2019, but it made sense then. At least, you could book a plane ticket with it. But right now, $3,000 is nothing,” she added.

The influencer elaborated on the increasing costs of living, travel, and branding. Given the current economic landscape, even a seemingly lucrative deal starts to lose its shine when you factor in expenses. “N6 million seems good, but when you have to convert it to dollars, travel abroad, and spend money to look good, there’s nothing left,” she emphasized, painting a picture of a challenging financial reality hiding behind the glitz of social media.

While Tacha continues to maintain her connections in Nigeria, she appears ready to embrace her new life in the UK. For her fans and followers, the relocation signifies more than a change of address; it represents a shift towards seizing new opportunities in a globalized digital market. The UK offers a diverse platform for influencers, with budgets that may surpass what is currently available in Nigeria.

This transition is not just a personal venture for Tacha; it echoes the broader trends within the influencer community. Many creators are exploring international markets to elevate their brands and secure better financial deals. As the world becomes increasingly interconnected, influencers are taking advantage of digital platforms that allow them to reach audiences worldwide.

As she settles into her new home in the UK, Tacha’s fans are eager to see how this next chapter of her life unfolds. With her determination and resilience, there’s no doubt that she will continue to make waves in whatever market she chooses to engage with.

In conclusion, Tacha’s move abroad is more than just a relocation; it symbolizes her ambition and readiness to take on new challenges.
