Actress questions Naira Marley’s confidence in police custody, suggests political backing
In a surprising twist to the ongoing investigation into the death of Ilerioluwa Olademeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, Nollywood actress turned politician Tonto Dikeh has alleged that Naira Marley, the boss of Marlian Records, has influential politicians supporting him. Dikeh made these claims in response to a tweet by Naira Marley after his recent arrest by the police.
Naira Marley, who had just returned to Nigeria, was taken into custody by the Lagos Police following the investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death. Confirming the arrest, Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos Police spokesperson, revealed that Naira Marley was apprehended shortly after his arrival.

This prompted Tonto Dikeh to question the singer’s confidence while in custody. She took to her Instagram page to express her thoughts, stating, “Look who has come back to Nigeria to assist the police investigate why he and Sam Larry tortured Mohbad. I ask again, who are those protecting Naira Marley? In the right country, he should be in handcuffs and chains, rather than having a phone to tweet. Naira Marley’s confidence looks to me like he has some top political underdogs by his side.”
The allegations made by Tonto Dikeh have sparked further speculation about the involvement of powerful figures in Naira Marley’s case. The controversies surrounding Mohbad’s death have already implicated Naira Marley and his associate, Sam Larry, who were accused of subjecting Mohbad to relentless bullying for leaving the record label.
