London, UK – Chelsea Football Club has announced the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino as their new manager. The Argentine coach will be taking over from Frank Lampard, who was appointed as interim manager after Graham Potter was sacked for poor performance.

Pochettino, who has previously managed Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton, is set to take charge of the club from next season, officially taking over by the summer. The 51-year-old has warned the club’s hierarchy that it will take two years to fix the West London outfit and make the Blues title challengers once again.

Chelsea have endured their worst campaign for several years, slipping to 11th in the Premier League – closer to the relegation zone than the Champions League places. Pochettino believes he can get Chelsea in better shape by this time next year, but he has warned that it would take two years to ‘guarantee the redirection and recovery’ of the Premier League club.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Pochettino said, “I am very excited to be joining Chelsea Football Club. It is a great opportunity for me to work with such a talented group of players and I am looking forward to the challenge ahead. However, I must be honest and say that it will take time to get Chelsea back to where they belong. We need to be patient and work hard to build a strong foundation for the future.”

Pochettino’s appointment has been welcomed by Chelsea fans, who are hoping that he can turn the club’s fortunes around. The Argentine is known for his attacking style of play and his ability to develop young players. He will be working closely with the club’s director of football, Marina Granovskaia, to identify potential transfer targets and build a competitive squad for next season.

Chelsea’s owner, Roman Abramovich, has also expressed his confidence in Pochettino’s ability to lead the club to success. In a statement, Abramovich said, “We are delighted to welcome Mauricio to the club. He is a proven winner and we believe he has the skills and experience to take Chelsea to the next level. We are excited to see what he can achieve with this talented group of players.”

Pochettino’s appointment comes at a crucial time for Chelsea, who are looking to bounce back from a disappointing season. The club has struggled to find consistency under Lampard and has been plagued by injuries to key players. Pochettino will have his work cut out for him as he tries to build a team capable of challenging for the Premier League title.

Despite the challenges ahead, Pochettino is confident that he can turn things around at Chelsea. He has a proven track record of success in the Premier League and is highly regarded by players and fans alike. With his attacking style of play and his ability to develop young talent, he could be just what Chelsea needs to get back to winning ways.
