Residents of the Oniru Resettlement Estate in Lagos state have suffered weeks of intermittent and damaging electricity supply, causing frustration and anger throughout the community. Despite reporting the issue to the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC), citizens claim the issue remains unresolved, with EKEDC staff visiting for monitoring, inspection, and disconnection every week without addressing the problem. The situation has been ongoing since the New Year holiday. Residents report the situation has deteriorated recently, causing appliances to break and food to spoil, with many forced to purchase fuel for generators. The Head of EKEDC Corporate Communications, Babatunde Lasaki, has acknowledged the issue and has stated that the transformer is faulty, with a contractor set to move to the site next week to fix the problem.
