2020 was a year of reckoning for “Vander Pump Rules,” as much of the original cast was let go due to allegations of past racist actions. Fan favorites Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute were fired when a former cast member Faith Stowers claimed that they had bullied her and called the police falsely, accusing her of committing a crime and thus endangering her life, per Vanity Fair.  What was almost more surprising was how hard the producers came down on the new cast members, including Max Boyens.

Boyens was let go after a series of tweets from nearly a decade earlier resurfaced. In the tweets, Boyens used racial slurs and made offensive jokes about Asian people. Boyens was let go along with the aforementioned cast members and newcomer Brett Caprioni. “Bravo and Evolution Media confirmed today that Stassi Schroeder, Kristen Doute, Max Boyens, and Brett Caprioni will not be returning to Vanderpump Rules,” the network said in a statement, per Life & Style. Boyens responded with his own statement apologizing for his past actions. “I want to sincerely apologize for what I tweeted in 2012 — it was wrong on every level,” he wrote. “It is not a representation of who I am. I am shocked I ever tweeted that and I am disgusted and embarrassed. I am truly sorry.
