After working together in 2018, Machine Gun Kelly and Sydney Sweeney collaborated again in 2020. The rapper released his hit album, “Tickets to My Downfall,” in September 2020 and created a short film, “Downfalls High,” based on the project. “Downfalls High,” written and directed by Machine Gun Kelly and Mod Sun, features Sweeney as the popular girl in the film’s high school, per IMDb. “I think I asked you if you were okay like 8,000 times a day [on set],” Kelly said of working with Sweeney during their Buzzfeed interview, later complimenting the actor. “I think your talent clearly, like, preceded you and continues to precede you.”
Sweeney and MGK’s friendship seemed to grow closer as they spent time together. In photos from the event, the two stars appeared to be feeling each other’s vibe at the Republic Records Grammy After Party in January 2020, per Refinery29. Sweeney also revealed to Elle UK in January that she would let Kelly give her a tattoo over their co-star Pete Davidson. “I could trust him if I couldn’t choose, he would choose something that was good for me,” she laughed.
While viewers may have hoped for a romance between the two “Big Time Adolescence” actors, it does not appear that their connection was ever anything more than just a friendship. In fact, while the actors worked closely together on projects in recent years, they were both linked to separate romantic interests.
