West Brom sack chairman John Williams and chief executive Martin Goodman

West Brom have sacked chairman John Williams and chief executive Martin Goodman.

Williams was appointed as chairman after the takeover of Guochuan Lai in 2016 while Goodman was made CEO in January 2017 when he replaced Mark Jenkins, who will return to the Hawthorns in his former role.

The Premier League club sit bottom of the table and suffered a 3-0 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Monday, which leaves them seven points adrift of 17th-placed Huddersfield.

The Baggies, under Alan Pardew, are without a win from their last four league matches and a club statement said the changes in the club hierarchy “follow Albion’s poor results this season”.

A club spokesman said: “We would like to thank John and Martin for all their efforts since their appointments and wish them well for the future.”

“There is much to do but for now, the focus must solely be on the remaining games of this season,” said Jenkins on his return to the club he was CEO for 14 years.

West Brom host Southampton in the FA Cup fifth round on Saturday before a Premier League meeting with Huddersfield on February 24 as they bid to avoid relegation to the Championship.
