Restore APGA’s lost glory – Ohanaeze’s Says

0

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Edozie Njoku, has been urged to restore the party’s lost glory by Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, a chieftain of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide. APGA has faced years of crisis, with Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State being the only governor on the party’s platform. Last week, the Supreme Court restored Njoku as the National Chairman of the party, putting an end to years of litigation and factionalization in the party.

In a statement on Monday, Isiguzoro, who is the Secretary-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, said Njoku had a duty to restore APGA’s lost fortunes in line with the late Igbo leader, Ikemba Odumegwu Ojukwu’s visions. He said that Njoku, as a founding member of APGA, would “restore the party’s master plan.”

Isiguzoro also praised the tenacity and dedication of Njoku’s executives in following up on the court case, stating that it “depicted the Igbo spirit of perseverance and dedication.” He expressed confidence that with Njoku at the helm of affairs, APGA would regain its place as a party to be reckoned with, as envisioned by the party’s founding fathers.

The statement noted that APGA is set to blossom beyond Anambra State into a regional and even national party under Njoku’s leadership. With the Anambra governorship election slated for November 6, 2021, the party is looking to make a strong showing at the polls.

APGA was founded in 2002 by the late Igbo leader, Dim Emeka Ojukwu, with the goal of promoting Igbo interests and providing an alternative political platform for the people of the Southeast. Since then, the party has struggled to establish itself beyond Anambra State, with many of its founding members defecting to other parties.

Njoku’s return as National Chairman is seen as a positive step for the party, and his leadership will be crucial in navigating the challenges ahead. With the 2023 general elections fast approaching, APGA will need to make strategic alliances and broaden its support base if it hopes to make a significant impact on the national stage.

The party has already announced its readiness to contest the presidential election in 2023, with Soludo emerging as a possible candidate. With his wealth of experience as a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Soludo is seen as a formidable contender who could provide a credible alternative to the incumbent APC and PDP.

In conclusion, the restoration of Njoku as National Chairman of APGA is a welcome development for the party, and his leadership will be critical in revitalizing the party and making it a force to be reckoned with. With the Anambra governorship election just a few months away, the party has a chance to prove its mettle and demonstrate its readiness to provide a viable alternative for the people of the Southeast.
