The Nimo community in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State has finally resolved a lingering land dispute among indigenes of the community, which has caused several youth revolts.
The community leadership summoned all indigenes of the community, both male and female, to its community square to resolve the dispute over the weekend.
The dispute arose after some youths of the community protested the sale of a part of a disputed land by its leadership and allocating the same as Obodo Oma Estate.

The youths argued that the land, which was the proceeds of a conquest many decades back by their forefathers, should be left as an inheritance to the coming generation.
However, the community, led by its President General, Ekenenna Okafor-Omabu, and the traditional ruler of the community, Onowu Ike Oliobi, who summoned the meeting, inspected the land before arriving at the community square, where it explained the decision to designate the land as an estate.
Former commissioner for justice and attorney general of Anambra State, Peter Afuba, (SAN), who briefed the community, said that it was the agreement of the community to use a part of the land as an estate. He explained that only indigenes of Nimo were being sold plots in the land at a discounted rate.
He further clarified that the essence was to bring development to the community, instead of leaving the land to lie fallow when many people may be needing them for development.

Speaking on behalf of the youths, Dr Valentine Ike Oliobi, urged the trustees of the land to carry the youths of the community along in their decisions to avoid unnecessary skirmishes.
The community leadership, however, assured the youths that they would involve them in the development plans for the estate.
In his remarks, the traditional ruler of the community, Onowu Ike Oliobi, urged the indigenes of the community to remain united and work together towards the development of the community.
He also urged them to shun any act capable of causing disunity and strife in the community.
The resolution of the land dispute has brought relief to the Nimo community, which has been embroiled in the crisis for some time.
The youths, who had been protesting the sale of the land, have expressed satisfaction with the decision of the community leadership to involve them in the development plans for the estate.
They have also pledged to work with the community leaders toward the development of the estate and the community at large.
