Abuja, Nigeria – Lamidi Apapa, the factional Chairman of the Labour Party, was met with jeers and mockery at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal on Wednesday. The incident occurred after Apapa had earlier engaged in a physical altercation with members of the party over a seat in the courtroom.

The court had adjourned the case until Friday, but Apapa was met with a chorus of boos from those in attendance. The incident was the latest in a series of clashes between Apapa and the suspended National Chairman of the party, Mr Julius Abure.

The court refused to recognize the two factions laying claims to the national leadership of the party. As Apapa attempted to leave the courtroom, he was shielded by policemen. The crowd chanted “ole, ole”, calling him a “thief”, as he struggled to make his way to his car.

The incident highlights the deep divisions within the Labour Party and the ongoing legal battles over the national leadership of the party. The party has been plagued by infighting and power struggles, which have led to the suspension of several key members.

Many believe that the ongoing legal battles are a distraction from the party’s core mission of representing the interests of Nigerian workers. The Labour Party was founded in 2002 and has been a vocal advocate for workers’ rights and social justice.

The party has struggled to gain traction in recent years, as it has been overshadowed by larger and more established political parties. However, the party remains an important voice in Nigerian politics and has the potential to play a key role in shaping the country’s future.

As Nigeria prepares for the upcoming presidential election, it is clear that the country’s political landscape is in a state of flux. The outcome of the election will have significant implications for the future of Nigeria and its people.
