Nigerians have a lot to learn from the business section of THE PUNCH newspapers,  the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), University of Jos, Prof. Teresa Nmadu, has said.

She said her interest in the most widely read newspaper in the country dated back to over 38 years ago as an undergraduate at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where she studied Business Administration.

The DVC stated this in her office when she received four copies each of three sets of books entitled: Managing A Successful Small Scale Business; Job Hunting and Career Success and  Building Entrepreneurial Skills (Volumes 1 and 2).

The books, which are a compilation of articles on personal finance and management, published by PUNCH between 2004 and 2009, provide useful information on the economic reality facing the country as well as practical solutions.

Nmadu said, “The PUNCH tells business stories that are attractive to business students. The stories in the paper are readable and we have a lot of things to learn from them, both for small business and growing businesses.

“Since my days at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, The PUNCH has been a daily diet. I took interest in teaching PUNCH as a case study in a course here in UNIJOS — called Human Resource Management.

“We see stories on business succession; one management succeeding another management and actually the practice of things that are involved in the expansion or contraction of a business. So, I captured all of them and this was captured in a book and the story of The PUNCH is documented in LEAP Africa.’’
