GTBank Fashion Weekend Jay Alexander sets modelling trends, runway shows open day 1
The GT Bank Fashion Weekend 2017 opened on Saturday 11th November to a series of masterclasses, exhibition, presentation and runways shows to round off the day.
Day 1 saw celebrity photographer TY Bello talking portraits and starting out in photography giving fond details about memories she’s had on the job that has taken her to different parts of the world.
Womenswear buyer Rebecca Osei-Baidoo spoke about fashion and sourcing the ideals of merchandizing, brokering deals on unique pieces and having an eye for great pieces.
Fashion editor and styling; Shiona Turini spoke on creating an identity and having a keen eye for details and the ability to spot a diamond in the rough.
Publisher, British GQ Portfolio and first black female publisher at Conde Nast Vanessa Kingori spoke about starting out as a stylist, events person up till packing up an interest in fashion which say her as the first female at GQ just doing what she loves. She noted that going digital has helped a lot of people push out creative bits while nothing print publication is still going strong making a strong case with GQ.
Runway coach and TV personality Jay Alexander brought fierceness to the masterclass with runway demonstrations highlighting the do’s and don’ts of making it on the runway while sharing what it takes stand out in the modelling world.
The eventful day packed with Nigerian brands presenting their latest collections for sale with happy shoppers snagging up a lot of made in Nigeria pieces.
For the night, the runway presentation saw Tracy Reese, Lanre Da-Silva Ajayi, Taibo Bacar, Ituen Basi, Mimi Plange and Meena presenting their latest collections to round off the night.
