Kit Harington and Rose Leslie are officially married!

On Saturday, June 23, 2018, the Game of Thrones stars tied the knot at a church near Wardhill Castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, which the actress’ family has owned for centuries, Entertainment Tonight reports.

Harington and Leslie are, of course, best known for respectively playing on-screen lovers Jon Snow and Ygritte on the popular HBO series. The couple exchanged vows in a private ceremony, which was attended by their closest friends and family, as well as castmates Sophie Turner, Peter Dinklage, Maisie Williams, and Emilia Clarke.

As Nicki Swift previously reported, Harington, 31, proposed to Leslie, also 31, in September 2017. “Kit’s known for ages he’s wanted to marry Rose,” a Daily Mail source said of the former co-stars, who have been together since 2012. “But he wanted them to get a house and settle down a bit first.”

While opening up about their long-term relationship, Harington explained to L’Uomo Vogue that meeting on-set while filming GoT on location in Iceland had contributed to their feelings toward one another. “Because the country is beautiful, because the Northern Lights are magical, and because it was there that I fell in love,” he said just a year before popping the question. “If you’re already attracted to someone, and then they play your love interest in the show, it becomes very easy to fall in love.”

With GoT set to end in 2019, the newly married actor has admitted that he’s ready for life to slow down a bit. “Thrones nicely bookended my twenties, but I’m thirty now,” Harington told Esquire last year. “Maybe I can reinvent myself and get away from an image that’s so synonymous with Thrones. But maybe this was the role I was always meant to play and that was it.” He added, “I’ll enjoy the madness quieting a bit. I’d like a few years of relative obscurity.”

Hopefully the “madness” will quiet down long enough for the newlyweds to enjoy a romantic honeymoon before building their new life together. Congratulations to the happy couple!
