Enugu IPAC Rival Factions Embrace Peace: A New Dawn for Political Accountability

IPAC parallel groups finally embrace truce in Enugu

Enugu State witnessed a dramatic turn of events as the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) factions, embroiled in a bitter dispute, finally reached a peaceful resolution. The recent turmoil that marred the election of new executive members at the Enugu State office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has now given way to a promising truce.

Reports from wowplus.net revealed that tensions ran high during the election process, with the situation teetering on the edge of chaos before security forces intervened. A collaborative effort involving the police and the Department of State Services (DSS) managed to defuse the escalating conflict.

The much-awaited reconciliation unfolded at the IPAC secretariat in Enugu, culminating in the official handover of leadership to the newly elected chairman, Mr. Obioma Nnamani, also the Chairman of the BOOT Party in the state. The former chairman, Edwin Alor, gracefully passed the baton to Nnamani, symbolizing a fresh start for the council.

Addressing the gathering, Nnamani expressed his commitment to upholding transparency and accountability within IPAC’s operations. He emphasized the importance of fostering strong partnerships with electoral bodies like INEC and ENSIEC, as well as fostering collaboration with the state government for the betterment of Enugu State’s populace.

“As we chart a new course for IPAC, unity and cooperation among members will be our driving force. Together, we possess the collective strength needed to propel IPAC to greater heights,” Nnamani remarked, exuding optimism for the council’s future endeavors.

Offering insights from the state government, Frank Anioma, the Special Adviser to Governor Peter Mbah on Political Matters, urged IPAC to remain vigilant as a watchdog, holding the government accountable for its actions. He stressed the importance of maintaining a constructive dialogue with the Enugu State administration to promote good governance and transparency.

An atmosphere of gratitude and reflection permeated the handover ceremony, as outgoing chairman Edwin Alor expressed his appreciation for the unwavering support and understanding extended by his executive team and council members. He acknowledged his imperfections, urging forgiveness as IPAC transitions into a new phase of leadership under Nnamani’s stewardship.
