Adamawa State Government Allocates N836m for Reconstruction of 44km Road


In a bid to improve infrastructure and enhance connectivity within the state, the Adamawa State Executive Council has given the green light for the reconstruction of a 44km road. This road, which runs from the permanent orientation camp of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Damare, near the state capital, Yola, to Borong, a major community in the Demsa local government area, is set to undergo a major transformation.

The feeder road, which traverses two local government areas – Girei and Demsa, is slated to be reconstructed at a cost of N836 million. The State Commissioner of Education, Dr. Umar Pella, revealed this information to the press following a meeting of the State Executive Council (SEC) at the Government House in Yola.

According to Dr. Pella, the contract for the reconstruction project has been awarded to Hydro Source and Resource Nigeria Limited, with an expected completion timeline of 12 months. Furthermore, the SEC meeting, which was presided over by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, also saw the approval of a variation contract worth over N117 million for the construction of a modern laboratory at the Specialist Hospital in Yola. Dr. Pella clarified that the initial cost of the project was over N578 million, and the variation is necessary to accommodate the increase in the cost of building materials.
